daylight-- a poem

the silence speaks
the rocks cry out
a tree trunk stands,
waiting

the earth never stops turning
the leaves are always stirring
even in the dark of night, without a breeze to help them along
they all return home.

in the daylight, friends appear
offer their prayers, love, peace
offer a God who never sleeps,
who doesn't stop

who loves and sings me to sleep.
